Your information is really helpful and I appreciate the details. I have not seen much on the later surgeries only the initial repair. BTW- we sponsor children through Amanda's "Throwing Starfish" website. She has a whole blog site dedicated to surgeries for cleft lip and palate.Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14477022996675369120noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23675131.post-52677507241895223152010-05-14T19:43:47.401-04:002010-05-14T19:43:47.401-04:00this is great info. You're right this is NOT a minor need though minor in that once the medical issues are addressed those which remain are cosmetic and functional for speech, etc. Parenting isn't for the weak in general. Ricky is lucky he has such a loving family who knows what he needs and goes out and fights for it.Lost and Foundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15355735805187740437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23675131.post-47773010870527217182010-03-01T15:29:23.118-05:002010-03-01T15:29:23.118-05:00yeah i always am fascinated when people say it'...yeah i always am fascinated when people say it's a minor need. i wasn't even open to it for fear of all that is involved. now, of course, i feel like i could handle it so easily! (putting it in perspective, that is, with a child that can't walk and has to be cathed every 4 hours, etc etc)...

it's a lot, all these procedures and surgeries. ricky is a trooper.kitchuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03907460384010952009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23675131.post-23496047796298741382010-02-07T22:27:41.563-05:002010-02-07T22:27:41.563-05:00The roof of the mouth thingy is called a Palate Ex...The roof of the mouth thingy is called a Palate Expander. But cleft or no cleft, no single child is easy and anyone who believes otherwise is not understanding the whole pictures.Michelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09269423321421270481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23675131.post-85129708958186540102010-02-05T13:05:47.408-05:002010-02-05T13:05:47.408-05:00There is a huge investment in this process.
